Bhagavad Gita - Chapter 6 - Verse 1 | Detachment and Yoga

Bhagavad Gita Detachment and Yoga Banner

Key Thought

Perform action without expecting fruits.

Verse

Deeper Understanding

Meaning

One who acts without attachment to results is a renunciant and yogi—not one who abstains inaction or ritual neglect.

Explanation

A person who works sincerely without craving rewards is a true yogi and renunciant; mere inactivity or ritual abstinence doesn’t make one yogi.

This teaches us that

Work wholeheartedly while letting go of expectations; this is true spiritual practice.
