Bhagavad Gita Detachment and Yoga Banner

Key Thought

The senses act, but the self remains the witness.

Verse

Deeper Understanding

Meaning

When senses engage with their objects, a person may speak, grab, or perceive, while the wise remain aware that senses are doing the actions.

Explanation

A person who sees that senses act on their own while one calmly observes is truly wise and practices detached action.

This teaches us that

Being passive yet active in the world is the essence of yoga.
