अज्ञान ही सबसे बड़ा अंधकार है।

Ignorance hides knowledge and causes delusion.

श्लोक / Verse

नादत्ते कस्यचित्पापं न चैव सुकृतं विभुः ।
अज्ञानेनावृतं ज्ञानं तेन मुह्यन्ति जन्तवः ॥

भावार्थ

अर्थात

परमात्मा किसी के पाप या पुण्य को ग्रहण नहीं करते; परंतु अज्ञान से ज्ञान ढका होने के कारण प्राणी मोहित होते हैं।

मतलब

भगवान न तो किसी के पाप लेते हैं, न ही पुण्य। लेकिन अज्ञान से ढका ज्ञान ही जीव को भ्रम में डालता है।

इससे हमें यह सीख मिलती है कि

अज्ञान ही असली बंधन है।

The Supreme Being does not take sin or merit, but beings are deluded due to ignorance that covers knowledge.

Explanation

God neither rewards nor punishes; ignorance that veils true knowledge causes delusion in beings.
