Bhagavad Gita Detachment and Yoga Banner

Key Thought

True renunciation is renouncing attachment within.

Verse

Deeper Understanding

Meaning

The person who mentally renounces all actions dwells calmly within and acts not, although the body functions like a city with nine gates.

Explanation

A person who inwardly renounces all karma lives happily and controlled, appearing physically active but mentally detached.

This teaches us that

Real renunciation is an internal state of detachment, not external inactivity.
