आत्मा ही मित्र भी है, शत्रु भी।


Mastering the self makes the soul your friend.

श्लोक / Verse

बन्धुरात्मात्मनस्तस्य येनात्मैवात्मना जितः ।
अनात्मनस्तु शत्रुत्वे वर्तेतात्मैव शत्रुवत् ॥

भावार्थ

अर्थात

जो व्यक्ति अपने आत्मा को जीत लेता है, वही स्वयं का सखा बनता है, और जो अपने आत्मा से परायापन करता है, वह आत्मा का शत्रु बन जाता है।

मतलब

जिसने अपने मन और आत्मा को वश में कर लिया है, उसके लिए आत्मा मित्र है। लेकिन जिसने अपने ऊपर नियंत्रण नहीं किया, उसके लिए वही आत्मा शत्रु की तरह बन जाती है।

इससे हमें यह सीख मिलती है कि

आत्म-नियंत्रण से जीवन में शांति और मित्रता आती है।

Meaning

One who conquers their own soul becomes their own friend; one who is alienated becomes their own enemy.

Explanation

A self-controlled person is allied with their own soul, while one lacking control makes their soul an adversary.

This teaches us that

Self-mastery brings peace and harmony within oneself.
