Bhagavad Gita Detachment and Yoga Banner

Key Thought

Sensory pleasures lead to pain.

Verse

Deeper Understanding

Meaning

Sensory pleasures cause suffering as they have a beginning and end; the wise do not indulge in such pleasures.

Explanation

Enjoyments arising from senses bring pain because they are temporary; the wise avoid being entangled in them.

This teaches us that

Indulging in sensory pleasures leads to suffering; wisdom lies in detachment.
