Key Thought

Suffer pleasures and pains—they are transient.

Verse

Deeper Understanding

Meaning

O Kaunteya, the sensations of heat, cold, happiness, and pain caused by the contact of the senses are temporary and come and go—endure them.

Explanation

O Arjuna! The physical pleasures and pains experienced through the senses are fleeting and impermanent—bear them patiently.

This teaches us that

Patience and endurance are keys to stability and balance.
